Maybe you saw this, maybe you didn't, but you're going to hear the story
anyway. This past summer, my friend Mike MF (he's the one on the right) called me telling me that he was able to get ahold of tickets for the The David Letterman Show. As the story goes, the tickets originated with my friend Mike Driscoll's brother, Dave, and they passed through the hands of his family until they got to Mike where he invited me.. Whatever.
Anyway, here's the deal.. we took off to NYC the next day, stood in line
and got our tickets numbered (a ticket doesn't guarentee you entry unless
its numbered) then walked around NYC for a few hours. We came back
later in the afternoon, stood in line according to our numbers for a
hour or so then moved inside and stood in line for around another hour.
Yay.
Eventually they fed us in single file to our seats (which are all based
on the numbers we got earlier) and coincidently we were sitting in
arguably the best seats in the house.. front row, just left of center
stage so that the cameras were not obstructing our view.
Yeah, despite what anyone else tells you, the theater is cold.
Anyway, the guests that night were the guy that won the Indianapolis 500
(he and a NYC cab driver raced around the block that night); the
commedian, David Brenner; and Chris Issac ("Wicked Game" guy). Mike and I
(Mike especially, as we all know) was being really rowdy in the beginning
before the show started.. probably because we were standing in line for
hours on end that day.
Anyway, blam!, Letterman came out, did a quick introduction and then the
lights went on and they started taping. The next thing we knew, the
cameras swung in front of us and Dave mentioned us in his monologue.. 5
seconds of fame... aw-yeah! To make the rest of this story a bit
longer, we were psyched, call all our friends, etc. (all two of them)
from the car on the ride home and then watched the show live upon getting
back.. Yee-haw!
