nat's summer party // v.2004
:: @ mannahatta // saturday july 31, 2004

|

As the legend goes, every summer Nathania and her sister Lauren throw a party in NYC to get everyone together. I kind of remember last year (@ Fuel?) and the year before (roof deck?), but for some reason the only teendrama evidence I could find dates back to 2001.

Anyway, version 2004 was at Mannahatta - characterized by a solid bridge and tunnel crowd, asshole bouncers upstairs (earpieces, really?) and slamming hip hop dance party downstairs. Starting sober, left to right, Alisa (in from Boston), Jill (in from Brooklyn) and Lauren (representing the Upper East Side).

Alisa warned us early on that a soccer injury put her on the Hip Hop Dance Party DL.

It took us about an hour before we migrated downstairs. I swear, the crowd was much hotter looking last night.

Signature style. (upskirt artistically cropped out)

Note: Clockwise from 12:00 - Sherri, Jackie, Dens, Mel, Alisa

Kim and Joe took off early. As did Beth due to expensive, yet uncomfortable <insert fancy $500 name here> shoes.

$6 Amstel bottles can suck it. (unless they also double as an ice pack for your bum leg).

In a surprise turn of events, Steve found this "Reserved" sign...

... which Jackie also wanted to pose with...

... before Alisa upped the ante...

... got all pouty...

... and got her make out on...

ps: grellan, you should have braved the line.

... right before this guy passed out next to us.

(and, please note, that all this is going down while Lauren gets her shank on with Johnny Newark.)

... so I jumped up in that Reserved bizness...

... twice...

Note: gangster face = better

... before handing it back to Ms. Alisa...

... who passed it to Steve...

... and back to Jackie...

... then Nathania wanted in...

Note: Don't miss The Lauren Horse still macking it up in the background.

... hot...

... hotter???

Not hot.

... and back to hot again.

Then it all stared to fall apart.

DJ never got as far as Ante Up, switched to Bon Jovi style shit and kids started to get restless...

... dropping headlocks...

... resulting in ruff-and-tumble haircuts.

So we left.

But not before passing the torch to Nat's newly-engaged sister Lauren. (congrats, btw)

Note: I was going to make some "camera flash" + "bling" statement, but figured that would be very summer 2003, no?
