Hey! Just because it's October (er, and still 84 degrees in NYC) you didn't think we were done with wedding season did you? Let's rewind two weeks ago (Sept 21) to Randy and Lisa's wedding out in Brooklyn!
(oh real quick, a quick shoutout to anyone who's pics I stole for this recap... there are *hundreds* of Flickr pics from the wedding)
In case you're totally lost here's our little love birds... this pic skips ahead a bit though, let's start at the rehearsal dinner down at Dekk in Tribeca...
Four course meal... and all we've got to do is wear a tux tomorrow!! The steak was one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten (note to self: go back to Dekk and see if it's always that good). Grell giving me the stinkeye over the last bite.
All the groomsmen got the hookup from Randy with these hifiny shirts (er, hifiny being Randy's bbblllooooggggg).
I got a brown one. Kid silkscreened them himself! (ps: the kids in Amsterdam were wondering were to get 'em - ha!)
And onto Friday... I cut out of work early as all the groomsmen met up at Randy + Lisa's place in Tribeca for a get-yer-tux-on party. Rentals courtsey of Men's Warehouse - Kyle busted on his shirt to find this nasty blood stain on his sleeve. We tried to imagine how this went down - I like the idea of someone getting clocked in the face at some ex-girlfriend's wedding in NJ, the dude just wiping the blood on his sleeve and being like, "Let's do this!" and then a huge brawl breaks out in parking lot of the Paramus Mall... or whatever.
Me + Tully + Josh. I am pocketsized. And in love with Josh.
Randy's bro outclassed us all by going with the formal Coast Guard uniform. I think this is the medal for best smile.
A litle pre-wedding rehearsal. Lisa (er, an architect) drew up these detailed plans on where we're supposed to stand. Ha!
Around 4pm, seven dudes in tuxes on the downtown A/C/E.
The Kim Brothers enjoying the commute to DUMBO. We got there early enough to just lounge around in some coffee shop before we met up with Ms. Youngna for the first round of pics (dudes only).
The wedding was at a gallery space called Smack Mellon in DUMBO (right over the bridge in Brooklyn). It's literally right across the street from this park near the river, so YP shoot all these pics right at the water's edge (same place we took pics for Alex's Wedding, btw)
And the Kim family.
YP: "Just look natural!"
Photo of a photo of a photo of a photo (which *crushes* the current how-meta record from bday #27!)
ps: And there's the pic Tully's taking.
Post pictures and pre-wedding, maxing and relaxing before the madness starts.
Most of us had no idea who was on the guest list till we found this stash of party favors
Lisa's family is pretty tight with one of the congressmen from Texas. He came along to the wedding to give a blessing (and give all us groomsmen a pep talk before things kicked off).
And the ceremony. No idea who took this pic, but it's taken from right around where I was standing (which was right behind super-tall Josh. I may have well been sitting under a table.)
Annnndddd 30 minutes later we've got ourselves a husband + wife! Or, just wife in this pic. Hi Lisa!
Post wedding, the guests chill at cocktail hour while we cue up for another round of photos. That's Manhattan in the background.
And the Manhattan Bridge in this one.
Randy and the ladeeeeeeeeeeez.
And how about one of these while Randy is busy getting his photoshoot on. Check out our 20 pound cactus corsages!
Okay, so this pic kind of marks the moment where our responsibilities as Groomsmen are over (hence Grellan breaking out one of the four groosmen's flask's he's collected from weddings past)
Monogrammed, of course. (Naturally, I had the one I got from J's wedding in my back pocket - ha!)
Next up: First Dance! ("Heartbeats" by Jose González)
Me and the Randizzle. This has to be post-dinner, post-speeches... For those who weren't there, imagine Alex warming up as DJ in the background.
Willa (Josh + Ann's baby!) sporting her special "I Heart Randy" getup.
Oh, remember those party favors from a few pics ago? They turned out to be
handkerchiefs bandeezies with R&L (Randy / Lisa!) logos silk screened up on them. Bandeezie + wedding = predictable behavior. I'm glad Willa busted it out first.
You probably guessed this wasn't too far behind.
A look inside. You know, the night was pretty civil until Alex cued up "The Skin Of My Yellow Country Teeth" (Clap Your Hands Say Yeah... maybe the unofficial anthem of Good Times Past?) and then we all just kind of went apeshit.
In the back of the room, Tully, toasting shots of so-not-needed tequila.
While in the front, Andy whips off his rented tux jacket, throws it on the floor and we take turns jumping on it. "It's a rental!!" (the destruction is so reminiscent of this, no?)
Then some backspins?
We tried to clear the floor for Six Five...
... by Andy kept on sliding back in there.
You know that song "She had dumps like a truck, truck, truck. Thighs like what, what, what" - that song was written for Funlap. This was right around the time I did a headfirst slide between her legs (um, twice)...
... and came up with half my covered in a concrete-burn. Ha! You can see the burn marks on my shirt!
ps: I'd be fooling myself if I didn't make a comparison to my behavior here and to my dad's behavior at my brother's wedding and the 7th grade dance he chaperoned where he slide on his stomach across the Medway Middle School gym. Eeek, even the memory of it makes me shiver.
Grell looking all crafty. I am also enjoying the Hand Dance going on in the background.
Don't look too close, but it appears as if Andy has somehow taken off his tux shirt, left on an undershirt (which he's already sweated through) and then put the vest back on??? WTF!
McD and the McD Shuffle.
After lots more jumping around, me + Josh looking retarded.
Randy + Grell. I love how Grell is completely disheveled while Randy's still 100% got it together.
Me and my overly-long sleeves. Every tux I've *ever rented* ends up like this - jacket sleeves too short, shirt sleeves to long. I look stoopid! Maybe my arms are just really short???
And let's take a moment to honor some of our special guests... Doug + Sloan.
Bec + Dave!
Carney + Nicole!
Megan + Dianne!
Paul + Janelle! (come'on, that's funny!)
McSimmons + KK!
Lattistar + Dave!
Um, who are these people again?
When the night was done, we wished the bride and groom well by sprinkling sparks all over their highly flammable wedding getups.
These pics came out pretty great despite my crap camera (remember, how rad these shots were from Stacey + Dave's wedding??)
Outside. Josh still rocking the bandeezie.
And a parting one of these for good measure (that's Lisa's dad on the bottom!)
Josh with the flowers, Grell with a $2 cigar.
After party = a little hazy. Me, McD, Josh and Grell ended up at some place in DUMBO (nude art models?) and then somehow magically got warped back to 2A in the East Village. In tuxes. Flickr told methat me + Leba had an ad hoc slapping contest? (hopefully it wasn't as bad as the Tully / Crowley wars of 2003)
The next morning we regrouped at some bar in Tribeca to trade war stories from the night before.
Like how I ended up with this on my arm from the headfirst slide (two weeks later and I still got a filthy scab).
Or how I *stole* four bottles of wine from Mandy's apartment (smuggled out in this iron box!) after helping unload the left over wedding supplies post-reception. Sorry about that.
ps: Randy + Lisa, great great fun and thanks for inviting us all!
ps2: Five weddings down, one more to go in 2007. Whew!
