thanksgiving is soooo 11 days ago (bonus: becca trapped in a machine and first wkd skiing!)

Wooo! Thanksgiving recap! Don't tell nobody, but I went home a few days early this year to spend some quality time with Mom + Dad + Princess Zelda. I have a few days of pictures to get through before we get to Turkey Day, but I figured I'd kick off this Thankgs.06 recap off with this pic of my brother with his balls hanging out. Happy holidays!

Wednesday. Picked up Jonathan at the Amtrak in Providence. Mom says no homecooked meals the day before Thanksg. so JJ and I hit up the Dave and Busters in downtown Providence. After milkshakes and ribs, we battled it out on the free throw machine under the understanding that loser is stuck saying Thanksgiving Day Grace. I got smoked. (And I'll take this opportunity to blame my lack of basketball skillz on the fact that I never had a hoop growing up. Thanks a lot, Dad.) video

While sinking crazy threes (er, sure), we missed my big debut on Boston's Channel 7 news talking about The Dodgeball. (Okay, okay I did catch it the night before in town w/ Rob + MF). Mrs. Moore caught the piece and said that I had a "handsome haircut." See for yourself (you'll need to click the "Watch the video" link on the top).

I logged some quality time at the Papa Ginos in Medway Center. Lunch with Mike, dinner with Rob. Fat Denny reprezent!!! Seriously, all this for under $10!

Wednesday nights are for townie reunions at Medway's finest townie bar, Sabina Doyles Mickey Cassidy's. We've been going for years (ever since they cancelled the alumn night at the VFW because there were too many fights) though every year there seems to be fewer and fewer people from our class (1994). I think we may have been some of the oldest dudes there. WTF!

Twenty minutes in and ran into everyone's favorite ex-prom data: Andrea.J!

This one's for all the fans. I was txt'ing back and forth with Caroline (who was also at some townie reunion back in the midwest) and told her I was hanging out w/ my crunked ex-prom date. She wrote back...

... hahahahahahahaha! [no idea what I am talking about?]

Stoopid Massachusetts bars close at 1am. Medway townie bar started kicking people out around 12:15! We tried our bestest to find a slamming after hours party (Take 1 = Golden Jade karaoke. Take 2 = Medway Lotus karaoke. Both closed) and ended up eating grilled cheese back at The Moore's house. Delicious!

Thursday. My sister took this secret jungle shot of Big Dig on the sly.

Mom + Dad host Thanks.g every year. Guests arrive around 2p... right around when Uncle Junior rolls out the clams casinos. (I can't even begin to tell you how delicious these are)

Dinner. No special guests this year (which I guess is a first?)

Actually, when I got home from NYC, I realized my truck had a busted tail light. When I brought it to the Medway Garage...

Mechanic: Hey, I remember you from last year!
Me: Er, because I got the same tail light fixed last year?
Mechanic: No, because you were with a beautiful woman!

... and meanwhile I'm like, "beautiful woman? What the heck are you talking about" until I remembered that Sweet Sweet British Jess came home with me last year. Ha!

So, oh dinner. Here: Mom + brother (Uncle Junior!) and sister (Auntie Jean!). Haaaaaaaallloooo! (Yup, it's the guy in the middle who cooks up the clams casino)

Cut! That! Meat! (does that ever get old?)

I don't know much about making turkey or gravy, but Turkey Juices go back into the gravy, right? Anyway that's not important - what is important is this little device that separates Turkey Juice from Fat. The fat rises to the top allowing you to just pour the TJ from the bottom. Pretty amazing, no? Welcome to the future.

Post-turkey tea time. Mr. Masterson and JJ getting their cribbage on. Don't miss the photo mug in the corner...

... that Dad + Katie made for my Mom at the mall last Christmas just as Rob Moore walked by. Ha!

Dessert time and Little Sister Katie made the most delicious Oatmeal Pecan Pie you've ever done tasted.

Later, I introduced our Thanksg guests to the magic of the Nintendo Wii.

For anyone that doesn't know about the Wii (Gam? Anne?) you swing the controller around to move your character (e.g. swing a tennis racket, use a sword, etc.)

Luckily no one got punched in the face. [video]

New Thanksgiving Tradition = post dessert hold-em tourney. We had, what?, 11 people x $20 buy in = two tables of tournement-class players.

I got stuck at the kids table. Meghan shuffling.

We set this kitchen timer for 25 minutes and kept upping the blinds after every ding. After about an hour we consolidated to one table. Somehow all the heavy hitters (Matt, Katie.B, JJ) got axed early...

... leaving me and Megan and the final table. (after I smoked Rob and MF, suckas! MF says: "...but you weren't playing like you had pocket nines!")

After ten-too-many hands, I beat Meghan on a lucky all-in where I was holding King high. (whew) By the way, that's my little cheat sheet in the corner since I can never remember what-beats-what. Without it I am useless.

$180 for the winner (that's me, suckas!) while Meghan took $40 for second place. Mr. Masterson took his $20 for 3rd place and went home early.

Friday. Every year my Dad runs this Christmas Tree fundraiser for the Lions Club where they set up a makeshift Christmas Tree Shoppe in the old Supermarket parking lot (Fernandez!). And every year me + JJ get roped into helping to upload the trees.

I'm not taking a few trees here, I'm talking like 800 - two trucks worth. We rolled in for Truck #2.. right after the Medway Varsity Hockey Team did all the heavy unloading for Truck #1. It's really not that bad - just a lot of, er, carrying trees.

Mr. Alconada = Dig's right hand man. That's a lot of trees, eh? After you unload 'em, you gotta stand them up in those little boxes, cut the ropes off them and then string some lights along. We jetted early (post-rope cuttin') and loaded up on pancakes.

Friday night. Becca came down to visit from Taunton(, MA) and we rounded up Keith.M and MF to check out the old Skate Place (home to many a 5th grade birthday party). They rebuilt the thing as a hipster hipster bowling alley. We had to wait like an hour just to get a lane (no thanks to Teddy Brewski and a bunch of other Pats players who were hogging all the lanes).

I'm no good at this Big Ball Bowling thing (remember, Mass is traditionally a candlepin town - small balls, skinny pins). Still, I'll roll you some mf'ing spares. [video]

JJ trying to impress the poofy-hair Milford sluts with his crazy spin styles. [video]

Hey, at least I beat Becca.

... though Katie's BF is the big winner here.

JJ's 112 = kind of low for a kid who rolls with his own ball, no? (er, why it's engraved as "dakat" again?)

Post bowling (and 12 beers) it all came back to the the free-throws. Ferrai vs. Masterson = *the* varsity superstar matchup the ladies have been begging for since '94. Not sure who went home with more tickets...

... though one of them surely took home the evening's Big Prize. [video]

Becca and a little dog in a little bag. (That dog definitely did not have a little gray hoodie and I definitely did not post for a photo holding the dog in a hoodie while I was wearing a gray hoodie of my own - that would just be retarded.)

ps: Also from BDiz's Flickr stream, contraband photos of my room in my parents house. Hasn't changed since 94.

Late night is for English Muffin Pizzas.

Saturday. We made the trek to VT to check out Mount Snow. The website was advertising six trails though we should have known better. 50 degree weather tradntionally does not make for good snow making conditions. If you squint real hard you can see one of the *two* trails that were actually open.

Pretty depressing views from the chairlift. From the bottom, you could take a lift halfway up and ski down the backside of the mountain (Northface. read: 1 trail), but there was no top-to-bottom skiing. To get back to the lodge, you had to ride the lift to the bottom.

Still, we got two days in (maybe 6-8 runs each day). Becca made us up some TS in the P to liven up the runs.

ps: Turkey Sandwich in the Pocket, fool! Not to be confused with PBJ in the P.

Apres ski. Even though it's early season, we still had to deal with the always-clever antics of Bruce Jacques (that's him standing on the bar singing). If you've even been to Mount Snow prob know what I'm talking about. If not, you may have read about it before. This is the singer guy who performs *every wkd* at Mount Snow, dressing up like Britney Spears or Slash from Guns N Roses. Funny the first time, not so funny the 30th time. Welcome back!

ps: You a season pass holder? Please sign my petition to ban Bruce Jacques from playing @ Cousins.

We left around 7 or so. Sometimes the Hoverpod has a mind of its own and ends up doing 90+ in a 65. Johnny Cop was nice enough to knock it down to a 75 (presumably after he caught a glimpse the Becca's little dog in a little hoodie?). Anyway, first speeding ticket since, what?, high school? Ugh. $100 bucks.

So, after our first weekend of the season we're at...

Dens: 2
Jay: 2
Katie: 2
Matt.U: 2

I'm going to shoot for 30 this year (after hitting a solid 37 last year). Got a trip to Whistler booked and some days off over Thanksg. Should be do-able. Maybe shoot for 35?
