R.I.P., mobile telephony product

I broke my phone. Actually it's been slowly breaking down over the past few months - a button here, a superglued battery there. It wasn't until this weekend when the casing started to creek and then crack, and then the hinge fell off... and then... the thing just busted into two pieces.

I am sad. Come'on, it's the phone that built dodgeball!! (sniffle) and the star of such media appearances as The Wall Street Journal and Newsweek. Alex says I should bronze it. I'm thinking about it.

On Monday morning I went to the Verizon store and replaced my little LG with a Treo. I hated it. Too many buttons. Too many clicks required to open a text message. On-screen buttons make it too hard to dial. Plus, it's too fancy... I need the phone of the common man!

So, I returned it.

And got this guy instead. Like a replacement goldfish, this one isn't as special as the original (and the camera kind of sucks) but it'll do for now. I'll miss you, little LG.
