You know, this bender I've been on for 6 days or so has been buckets of fun. Starting with the loft party last weekend, then the 12" anniversary party, followed by the Jest magazine launch party and late night at Apt 5C to No Data on Friday and then again on Saturday, every night seems to be an exponentially better time then then last. I think it all kind of peaks tonight with the LVHRD Dance Off. After tonight, we should all just retire (if our heads don't explode first).
Anyway, Friday we DJ'ed at Epsteins, a kind-of new bar on Stanton and Allen. It was our first time DJ'ing at a bar not called "12 inch". The evening was slow to start. Really slow. Like 10-people-there-until-like-1am slow.
(ps: Jill and Steve earned their +1 teendrama point for just for showing up in this photo. Booooo!)
That's around when we hit the Tipping Point(tm) - when Jen.D rolled in with Youngna + crew sporting oddly-placed stamps from the Local Magazine launch party.
Actually, stamped all over the place.
Girls, no biting. This is No Data! Show some respect!
Jen and Leslie. Can we get a little Lindsey up in there?
Special guest star G rolled in from Boston around 2am. You may recognize Ms. G from such nights out (er, two years ago) as Another Medway Bender and The Curse of the Mr. T Bobblehead.
And hey, here's Karen #1 and Karen #2! And another what-could-have-been-a-slamming picture that my GOD DAMN DIGICAM fucked up. (Seriously, I hate hate hate hate you digicam!)
More Dianne and Jen. Dianne looking wicked hot. Jen.D looking all whistlin'-time kkkkkrrazeeee.
So, here's the rub w/ Epsteins. The DJ booth is way up near the ceiling. Like you need to climb a ladder to get up there. Then, once you're in the booth, you can't stand up since you're so close to the ceiling. So you're crammed up in there, Tiny House style, for the whole set. It's also really hard to get drinks up that ladder. A miracle, indeed, that no one took a digger.
"I just wanna make an omelette!"
This dude loves $5 Jen.D lapdances. Sweet face. Loser.
(Runner-up caption: "This is NOT awesome!")
Becca loves recreating scenes from Flashdance.
Will McD. Player, please(, again). So predictable!
(I stole both these pics from Youngna. Her camera takes much better pictures than mine. For extra credit, you may want to check out Jess' No Data recap)
Late night, I mustered up the courage to ask G to the No Data prom. Coming soon. Seriously. She said yes(, I think).
And then we rode bikes.
Okay, so lets fast forward to Saturday...
Back at 12". After being crammed in the tiny DJ booth on Friday, returning to 12" was like coming home.
We let British Jess DJ for a spell. B-Dizz got her 8 minutes too.
ps: British Jess had her feet all shot up by lasers earlier this week (nerve damage?) so she's sporting this moon boot (which surprisingly does not hinder her hip hop dance party skills).
Forget stoopid Grellan... what's really important here are the three Brazilian girls in the background. Visiting NYC. And for some reason, hanging out at 12". They only spoke a bit of English ("Who are my pants?! Who are my pants?!"). At one point, the one in the leather pants leaned into to me and said, "You Americans are such bad dancers."
I said, "Girl, that's just Lockhart!"
(... who Becca dolled up like a hispter before taking him for a walk).
Joe (celebrity owner of 12") was kind enough to hook us up with some tamperproof drink tickets. Kevin promptly traded them in for delicious lagers...
... which come in handy when you're busting out your whipping-kittens-with-VIP-chains game.
Grellan + Randy, I love you guys, but after my last set (er, Foxwoods theme leading into Quad City DJs? come'on!), it's apparent that this is really just a one-man show. How about you guys step it up a notch? Seriously.
