Salzburg
Map of Europe
Salzburg.. stupid Salzburg. Actually, Salzburg was pretty nice - it was the stupid Sound of Music tour that killed me.

We get off the train pretty tired. I don't remember it being a long ride from Berlin, but train ride after train ride starts wearing you down after a while. We arrived in Salzburg in the same unprepared nature that we flew into London. We didn't have a place to stay or any set agenda (except for Michelle being dead serious about that stupid tour). We circled a few hostels in Let's Go to check out, but we were pretty laid back. Thus nothing really could have prepared us for the madness we met as soon as we exited the train station.

As soon as we walk out of the station - looking like nothing but American tourists - this old lady nearly tackles us trying to convince Michelle and I to stay with her for the weekend. It was so random and unexpected. Anyway, this crazy lady takes us back to her place (which we're thinking is going to be some third-world-country setup) only to find a beautiful place with four bunk beds and a decent bathroom and shower (nice showers are hard to come by in hostels). So we plunked down our Shillings (this place was cheap too) and headed out. We returned later to meet out two new roommates, Kate and [what's her name?].

I can't remember if we were there for one day or two, but I do know that I suffered through that tour (which we won't even talk about). We spent one night wandering the streets trying to find the one brewery in Salzburg (me, Michelle and our two roommates walked forever trying to find this place).

Yeah, Salzburg was a good time (minus the tour), but after our one day/one night stay we were on to bigger and better things.

Next - on to Venice.
